Live Scan fingerprinting for California Home Care Aide (HCA) Registry applicants, Home Care Organization (HCO) employees, and independent home care aides. Required under the Home Care Services Consumer Protection Act before you can be listed on the HCA Registry.
Under the Home Care Services Consumer Protection Act, every Home Care Aide working for a licensed Home Care Organization (HCO) — or applying as an independent HCA — must complete a DOJ and FBI criminal background check via Live Scan before being placed on the California Home Care Aide Registry. Most HCOs require cleared registry status before your first shift.
$30 rolling fee + $32 DOJ + $17 FBI + CDSS Home Care processing fee. Many HCOs reimburse new hires for these costs — bring your offer letter or onboarding packet if you're not sure who's paying.
